The next edition of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition will take place in Sion from August 22 to 30, 2025 🎻
A total of 28 young violinists under the age of 30 will compete before an international jury chaired by Pavel Vernikov

The second round of the competition, scheduled for August 25 and 26, 2025, sees the candidates face the exercise of sonata with piano. The violinists must perform three works: a sonata by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Schubert or Schumann; a sonata by Debussy, Janáček, Prokofiev, Enesco, Poulenc, Bartók, Ravel, Schönberg or Szymanowski; and a virtuoso piece of their choice, for solo violin or with piano. The international jury, still chaired by Pavel Vernikov, pays particular attention to the balance between technical mastery, musical sensitivity and chamber music complicity. The competitions are once again broadcast live, immersing the public in contemporary violin excellence and confirming the competition's role as a breeding ground for talent on the international music scene.
